Test trenching and manual excavation was carried out on the site, in advance of the construction of a new housing development.
Stone walls and cobbled floors were recorded in a number of the trenches and are believed to belong to the 19th-century mill that once stood on the site.
Further excavation of the structures would be required before construction can begin.
