Monitoring took place on 1 and 2 July 2013 of Site Investigation works carried out by RPS Consulting Engineers on behalf of Wicklow County Council in advance of a watermain rehabilitation project in Coolboy, Co. Wicklow. An archaeological assessment report completed for this project in March 2013 recommended monitoring of the works within one Zone of Archaeological Potential and also intermittent monitoring of the works.
The works involved the excavation of eight slit trenches along the route of the rehab works, five of which were monitored and recorded. No finds or features of archaeological significance were exposed in any of the trenches.
