Test trenching was carried out at a proposed development which involves the construction of a private dwelling house with wastewater treatment system and percolation area, access driveway and all associated site development works at Cotts, Tacumshane, Co. Wexford.

The proposed development is located within the Zone of Archaeological Potential around WX048-039 which comprises a pair of standing stones, one of which is an ogham stone. During an excavation in the 1920s the stones were removed and then later replaced.

Test trenching was carried out on 3 July 2013. Overall 9 test trenches, totalling 225 linear metres, were excavated within the green field footprint of the development. No archaeological features were found in any of the excavated test trenches.
