An archaeological evaluation was carried out prior to the proposed construction of an additional car park and related fencing and gates at Churchill Primary School, Caledon. The proposed development site is located within the Caledon Area of Archaeological Potential as designated in the Dungannon and South Tyrone Area Plan 2010.
Monitoring of ground reduction along a thin strip of the site was carried out. No evidence of archaeological deposits were identified within the development site. There was no indication that any of the former building remains survive here and it was clear that the site had experienced significant disturbance in the relatively recent past.
