Monitoring was carried out in April 2013 at a proposed development associated with the Cregganconroe wind farm, located at Tremoge near the village of Pomeroy in County Tyrone. This proposed development consisted of a sub-rectangular area of ground measuring approximately 115m north-west to south-east by 125m at its widest point.

The proposed development is located within an archaeologically sensitive area, with 32 recorded archaeological sites within the vicinity. None of these sites are located within the boundaries of the proposed development.

Evaluation took the form of seven trenches excavated across the site, under supervision. Previous ground investigation consisting of test holes and boreholes, carried out in 2011, revealed the underlying ground to consist of gravels towards the north with sand encountered within the mid and south extents. Made ground containing reed and decaying vegetation was uncovered at locations overlying these sands and gravels, while former ground surfaces were uncovered at shallower depths within other test pits and boreholes. These suggested that the area had been subject to groundworks consisting of ground reduction and the infilling of dips and hollows.

Excavation of the seven trenches confirmed the results of the earlier ground investigations, with evidence of disturbance being uncovered including fill material and raised ground levels, while topsoil was found to be quite shallow in several locations. While evidence of previous agricultural activity including drainage and plough furrows was uncovered in places, nothing of archaeological significance was noted.
