Monitoring of the digging of a trench around the outside of the castle for flood-lighting took place in September 2013. The trench was 0.45m deep x 0.3m wide around three sides of the castle (north, east and south) with a connecting trench running east to a power source by the bridge. Nothing of an archaeological nature was uncovered during the monitoring.
