Testing of a 15-turbine wind farm site was carried out in January and May 2013. The site is located in Monaincha Bog, south-east of Roscrea, Co. Tipperary. A total of 44 test trenches were excavated throughout the site in areas of turbine bases, hard stands, access tracks, borrow pit and substation. No archaeological finds, features or deposits were uncovered during the testing or metal detecting of the spoil from the excavated trenches.

Monitoring of peat removal associated with the construction phase of the wind farm development was subsequently undertaken over a period of 4 months in 2013. All peat removal at turbine bases and associated hard stands, borrow pits, internal site tracks and substation was monitored. No archaeological finds, features or deposits were uncovered during the course of the monitoring.
