Five trenches were excavated within the southern area of TS062-045, a concentric enclosure, in advance of the construction of an equine pool and stables at Grangebarry, Fethard. Testing uncovered a number of features identified in the geophysical survey undertaken by Schot in advance of testing (Licence 13R15). Trenches were excavated to the top of features of potential archaeological significance or, if no such remains were identified, down to the underlying natural subsoil. The inner ditch of the concentric enclosure was located during the testing. It measured 5.5m wide. A significant amount of modern disturbance in the form of land drains and services was encountered in close proximity to and in some cases overlying the ditch of the enclosure. As these services were live it was decided not to section the ditch but to record its extent and location. There was no suitable dating material recovered from the ditch. The remains of a possible pond feature (identified in early 20th-century mapping) were located to the south of the ditch. A number of modern pit features (probable animal burials) were noted at the east side of the site. It was clear from the depth of some of the trenches that portions of the development area were subject to disturbance in the recent past. A significant depth of overburden (up to 1m) overlay trench at east side of site. This is likely to be associated with the development of the existing stable yard to the east and south of the site. There were no finds recovered from the testing.
