Following an assessment of the proposed impact of an extension to the Tailings Management Facility (TMF) in Lisheen Mine, 16 archaeological sightings were recorded in June 2013 (see 13E059). A program of excavation was carried out between July and September 2013 which resulted in the excavation of these 16 sites and a further 28 sites which were identified during the course of excavation.

This site was a transversely laid east-west running roundwood trackway. It had smaller brushwood/roundwood at the western and eastern end of track, some oak planks interspersed in structure, stops halfway through cutting but it continues west into cutting 2.

An east-west platform had been created at the beginning of trackway. It consisted of medium and small roundwoods with larger roundwoods on top. Larger roundwoods were pegged in place. Medium to large roundwoods continuing to form trackway.

A north-south degraded brushwood platform was also recorded at this site.

Preliminary dating of samples from the site resulted in two dates, 360–171 BC (UBA 24062) and 164–56 BC (UBA 25560).

This site was fully resolved and no further archaeological mitigation is required.
