The development involved the construction of a 13-turbine wind farm. Approximately 2.2km of new access roads were constructed, in addition to the upgrading of approximately 2.5km of existing roads. All roads were approximately 4.5m wide. A level hardstanding area with minimum dimensions of 35m x 22m was created adjacent to each turbine. The turbine foundations were excavated to a depth of approximately 2m. In addition, a substation and a temporary contractor’s compound were constructed.
Monitoring was carried out intermittently between 1 April 2009 and 5 March 2013, and in total took 50 days to complete. On all occasions monitoring revealed peat sealing in situ geologically deposited strata. No archaeological features or artefacts were revealed as a result of monitoring.
