Testing in Areas A, C, E, F.1 and F.2 in advance of the N52 Ardee Bypass Scheme Phase II was carried out between 26 August and 6 September 2013. This phase of testing (Phase II) is a follow-up programme of testing from the main phase (Phase I), which was completed by Rubicon Heritage in 2012 (12E0373). Phase II testing was undertaken in four greenfield areas (Areas A, C, E and F.1) in the townlands of Ballygowan, Boharnamoe and Mullanstown. A full topsoil strip in Area F.2, adjacent to ecclesiastical cemetery site LH014-043 and Mullanstown 1 was also undertaken as part of the works. A total of 845 linear metres of trenches in Areas A, C, E, and F.1 were excavated. A full topsoil strip of 8,912m² was undertaken in Area F.2. No sites of archaeological significance were identified during the course of testing or topsoil strip. Modern gravel and sand quarry pits were identified in Area F.2.
