Monitoring was undertaken for groundworks associated with the Portlaoise and Mountmellick Water Supply Improvement Scheme at Straboe and Kilminchy, Co. Laois.
Monitoring of ground works and site investigations was recommended in a desktop assessment undertaken by IAC Ltd in 2007. Testing, also recommended in this report, was undertaken in 2010.
Monitoring was carried out of topsoil stripping within the pipeline wayleave in the townlands of Kilminchy and Straboe and along a section of the pipeline route which ran along the western boundary of the church and graveyard (LA013-005) in Straboe townland within the existing roadway. The monitoring was carried out over six days between November 2013 and March 2014.
Nothing of archaeological significance was identified at this time.
