Ballynaslee 1 was identified during testing (by James Eogan, 12E0342) of the proposed N77 Ballynaslee Road Realignment Scheme. The site comprised a single pit (0.76m diameter x 0.3m deep) with an area of scrub clearance located 4m to the south. Environmental samples produced hazel, ash, pomoideae and oak charcoal. A sample of charcoal (hazel) was dated to 830–1000 BC (SUERC 49219; 2767± 29 BP), placing it in a Late Bronze Age context.
