As part of the completion of the Final Design for the proposed N69 Listowel Bypass, archaeological investigation was required to determine the location and significance, if any, of archaeological features and/or human remains that may be present within an area that will be required for the construction of a roundabout on the Ballybunnion Road. There were no known archaeological monuments present near the lands required for the construction of the new roundabout but the development is close to a famine graveyard known as Teampaillín Bán. Four test trenches totaling 290 sq m were mechanically opened in the area but no archaeological remain was encountered.
