Pre-development testing took place of a 16-acre site on the western side of the village of Lixnaw proposed as the location for an Integrated Constructed Wetland. Two archaeological features were uncovered during the testing: a spread of heat-shattered stone embedded in a silty marl at a depth of 1m beneath a water-logged peat located at ITM 0489235 0629610 and a burnt mound located around 62m to the south at ITM 0489296 0629579 again beneath a substantial layer of peat. Given the low impact of the proposed development and the scale of the site it is suggested both features can be preserved in situ through design.
