Pre-development testing and monitoring was carried out on a development site at Doughiska, Co. Galway in November 2013. The site is located in the vicinity of GA082-044, which comprises a c.400m stretch of kerbed road/trackway (Wth 5.5m) running north-west/south-east and defined on either side by lines of large limestone and granite boulders. The monument is marked on the first edition OS six inch map and is named 'Bothar na Caillighe' on the Casini six inch map. It has been described as 'vestiges of the old road from Oranmore to Galway'. The monument was in open countryside at the turn of the century but is now surrounded by major residential, commercial and infrastructural development.

Much of the site was previously stripped of topsoil and only the landscaped north-east part of the site was available for testing. It was noted that the ground levels in this area are raised significantly above the field level, as evident along the line of the monument to the immediate north-east of the site.Testing and subsequent monitoring confirmed the presence of 2.5-3m of rubble infill and revealed that the site had been stripped of topsoil prior to the landscape works. No archaeological material was uncovered.
