Testing was carried out in May 2013 on the east bank of the river Clare in the townlands of Ballybanagher, Ballynacreg South and Turloughmartin in the village of Corrofin, Co. Galway. A previous site inspection had identified an area of archaeological potential to the rear of an existing garage in a field currently used for grazing. The feature was discernable as a sub-rectangular, grassed-over, platform.

Testing involved the mechanical excavation of six trenches throughout the site in advance of development. Investigations of the sub-rectangular anomaly revealed nothing of archaeological significance. The sod and topsoil averaged 0.35m and was composed of a compact dark silty clay with occasional small to medium sized stones. This upper layer overlay a natural, yellow brown, clayey silt with pockets of gravel and patches of a grey subsoil. No finds, features or deposits of archaeological potential were noted during the course of the investigations.
