Monitoring was carried out in Brookvale Road, Donnybrook, Dublin in October & November 2013 on behalf of Bord Gáis Networks. The works were located 100m south-east of the historic village of Donnybrook (DU018-060) and eight RMP sites occur within the vicinity. The works involved the laying of approx. 180m of 125mm PE main extension along an existing road in an open cut trench. The trench dimensions were approximately 0.7m to 0.8m deep by 0.5m wide. Groundworks involved the cutting and machine excavation of the existing road surface and underlying hard-core. The stratigraphy below the hard-core material consisted of tarmacadam and hardcore overlying a mixed modern deposit. No finds or features were found during the course of the excavation of the gas main trench.
