Monitoring of excavations is ongoing as part of the traffic management plan at Stephen’s Green, which is being carried out in conjunction with the new Luas Broombridge line. To date post-medieval deposits, which would have be located beneath the original street surface at Stephen’s Green East, have been identified, with natural subsoils occurring at c. 0.8m below the current ground level. Several well-constructed, post-medieval stone-lined culverts have also been revealed. No earlier archaeological features have been identified. An updated bulletin will be issued once works have been completed.
