Monitoring was carried out as part of the re-development of 37 College Green as the Irish Whiskey Museum. The work was carried out in response to planning conditions attached to the proposed development by Dublin City Council (Planning Ref.: 2027/13). No. 37 College Green is a 19th-century protected structure that occupies the site of a mill pond (DU018-020401). It was deemed possible that archaeological deposits associated with the site may survive beneath the current cellar floor. Six site investigation pits were monitored over the course of four days in order to assess the survival of any such deposits. Three of the pits were located within a small triangular yard at the rear of the property, whilst the remainder were located within the interior of the cellar. All of the pits were hand dug to a depth of c. 0.8m. They revealed that the post-medieval cellar floor lies on top of natural sub-soils.

No features of archaeological significance were identified during the course of monitoring work. It is therefore likely that the excavation of the cellar during the 19th century resulted in the removal of any archaeological features that may have survived.
