Survey Office in Phoenix Park in Dublin on behalf of Bord Gais Networks was carried out. The pipeline comprised approx. 75m of 63mm PE main extension along an existing tar driveway. Eight trenches were excavated to an average depth of 1m and average width of 0.6m. Directional drilling was used between trenches.
Works were carried out between 4 and 9 September in dry bright conditions.
Excavations carried out using a rubber wheeled JCB with a 15 inch grading bucket. Eight trenches were excavated to an average depth of 1m and average width of 0.6m. Directional drilling was used between trenches. The stratigraphy, where undisturbed, consisted of tarmac, hardcore, 0.2-0.3m of old topsoil onto orangey brown clays. The ground was previously disturbed throughout much of the site evidenced by areas of rubble infill, rubbish and existing services. No finds or features of archaeological significance were noted.
