An archaeological evaluation was carried out prior to the proposed construction of 3 wind turbines, including bases and transformers, at Meenbog, Co. Donegal. The 3 proposed turbines will be located to the south of the existing Cark Wind Farm, to which it will be connected.
Monitoring of all mechanically excavated works was undertaken. Mechanical diggers fitted with toothless buckets were utilised and excavation warranting archaeological attendance took place over a two-week period. In the case of all 3 turbine bases, the peat was removed onto naturally occurring subsoil.
Nothing of archaeological significance was identified.
