Testing in Areas 1–7 in advance of the N56 Leitirmacaward to Glenties (Kilraine) Road Project [Boyoughter-Kilkenny Section], Co. Donegal was carried out between 9 and 17 September 2013. This was followed by the excavation of two charcoal clamps and associated hearths at Mulnamin More 1. Testing was carried out in five greenfield areas (Areas 3–7) and two wetland areas (Area 1 and 2) in the townlands of Toome, Madavagh, Meenagowan, Kincrum, Mulnamin More and Gortnasillagh. A total of 2,335 linear metres of trenches were excavated. With the exception of the features identified at Mulnamin More 1, no other archaeological remains were identified.

Mulnamin More 1 consisted of four charcoal-rich features measuring between 0.6m and 2.58m in diameter. They appear to represent burning possibly related to charcoal production and are located within a level sheltered area surrounded by bedrock in a north-west facing field of rough pasture. Clamp C3 measured c. 1.17m long and 0.8m wide and was 0.07m deep. Hearth C4 measured 0.61m long and 0.59m wide and was 0.06m deep. Hearth C5 measured c. 0.8m long and 0.77m wide and was 0.03m deep. Clamp C7 measures 2.58m long and 1.2m wide and 0.26m deep.
