In November 2013 test trenching was carried out as a request for further information issued by Cork County Council planning reg. number 10/08330. In total 33 test trenches were excavated. Two potential archaeological features were uncovered. Trench 6 included a large ditch like feature (F3) 2.93m wide and an isolated post-hole (F4) with a diameter of 0.28m. The trench area was extended to see if any more post-holes were present, however nothing else was noted. On investigation of the ditch-like feature it appeared to have a maximum depth of 0.19m, while a defined archaeological cut was not apparent therefore suggesting an archaeological feature ploughed out or the remnants of a field boundary. No other archaeological features were noted. Further monitoring of the site and excavation of the features uncovered was recommended.
