An archaeological evaluation was conducted prior to the proposed construction of a small residential development on the lands between 82 and 88 Main Street, Forkhill, Co. Armagh. The proposed development site lies within the boundaries of the historic settlement of Forkhill.
A series of three test trenches were excavated across the development area using a machine fitted with a toothless bucket. The site had been previously stripped and a gravel hard standing had been constructed for a yard surface. A large amount of granite slabs were located in the east of the site which were unable to be moved prior to testing.
No archaeological deposits were uncovered during the course of the evaluation.
