Pre-development test trenching was carried out at the site of proposed extension to a meat processing facility at No. 17a Derrycoose Road, Portadown, Co. Armagh in response to a request for more information from NIEA Historic Monuments. Historic maps indicate that the proposed development may lie within an enclosure of potential Early Christian origin, therefore a series of machine-cut trenches were excavated and removed of topsoil within the footprint of the proposed building extension in order to establish whether any archaeological remains survive. A total of 4 test trenches were placed 5m apart within the footprint of the building proving the site to be sterile of archaeological remains.
