Intertidal inspection for a new waste water treatment works outfall confirmed the presence of the remains of an early 20th-century munitions works emplacement facility at the top of the sea cliff overlooking the foreshore, and in close proximity to the centreline for the proposed pipeline. The former complex is subject to coastal erosion, and concrete sleepers associated with a light rail system that serviced the coastal defence unit are exposed and hang down the sand cliff.
