Monitoring of groundworks was undertaken in September 2012 in response to planning conditions, as the site is located within the medieval town of Wexford. In total 0.6-0.7m of garden soils and made ground were excavated from the site. The uncovered deposits consisted of dark brown/black garden soil with red brick and mortar inclusions, which gave way to a ‘cleaner’ garden soil which became grey in colour, although it also contained inclusions of red brick and cinders. Re-deposited subsoil was also apparent among the deposits. No previously unknown archaeological features or deposits were identified.
