Site 33-1 Greatisland was discovered during monitoring of topsoil stripping for the Bord Gáis Networks Gas to Great Island scheme (Excavations 2012, No. 334, 12E0356). Two pits, one with prehistoric pottery pieces, and two post-holes were found. A patch of oxidised natural was also recorded. Two probable modern linear features were also identified, truncating the two pits.

The pit containing prehistoric pottery measured 3.3m north-west to south-east by 1.7m and was 0.38m deep. The second pit measured 1.35m north-west to south-east by 0.72m and was 0.16m deep. The post-holes were essentially circular in plan with diameters of 0.62m on average and a depth of 0.42m.
