A fulacht fiadh was exposed during topsoil stripping at the site of a new school at Bishopstown, Ballygunner on the outskirts of Waterford City. The monument was penannular, c. 15m across, and generally surviving less than 0.2m high. Part was removed onto the underlying ground surface, and an exposed oval trough was investigated. Two further pits or troughs may survive in the unexcavated part of the fulacht, which is to be preserved under a geotextile membrane. Samples were collected for radiocarbon dating. Funding was provided by the National Monuments Service.
