Pre-development testing was requested as a condition of planning at Creevykeel, Cliffoney, Co. Sligo. Development consists of a single storey residential dwelling with associated landscaping and percolation area.
The area for the site is 1.23 acres, located on flat pasture land. There are a total of fourteen recorded archaeological sites in the townland of Creevykeel. Only one of these sites, SL003-022001 Field Boundary, is located within a 50m radius of proposed development.
Three test trenches were excavated across the footprint of the dwelling. Two additional trenches were also excavated across the percolation area. No archaeological finds or features were exposed during the course of testing.
