Testing in advance of laying out a new pitch for St Kevin’s GAA club in Castlerea, cut 7 trenches and uncovered a stone-lined drain in one. The drain was located in a linear sunken feature that crosses the site. The sunken linear forms a distinct complex of early drainage across the site. Pottery and brick recovered indicates a c. 19th-century date.
