A programme of testing was carried out as part of the proposed N61 Treanagry Road Realignment Scheme. Testing was undertaken within a greenfield area (Area 2A) and a wetland area (Area 2B) in the townlands of Knockroe, Treanagry and Cloonshaghan during August 2012. The assessment followed on from a geophysical survey of the required land-take for the project (Earthsound Licence No. 11R0148 ext). The survey identified anomalies of possible archaeological origin within the specified survey areas. Nothing of archaeological significance was identified at any of these areas.
A total of 1,900 linear metres of trenches in Areas 2A and 2B were excavated. No sites of archaeological significance were identified during testing.
