A programme of test trenching was carried out on behalf of Fr. Early/Niall McKenna Architects. The proposed development involves the construction of a carpark to the rear (west) of Tedavnet Church and the widening of the existing road to the side (south) of the Church. Although no recorded monuments are located within the development, it is located in the vicinity of a Church (MO006-022001) and a graveyard (MO006-022002).
The test trenching programme was carried out on the 15 May 2012. Overall 4 test trenches, totalling 110m were excavated within the green field footprint of the development to assess the potential for subsurface archaeological remains.
No archaeological features were found in any of the excavated test trenches; however three linear field drains, ranging from post-medieval to modern in date, were identified but deemed to be of no archaeological significance.
