Testing was carried out at Wellington Place, Trim, Co. Meath on March 12, 2012. The proposed development involves the retention and renovation of an existing building and the erection of a new house on the site. The site lies within the zone of archaeological potential for Trim and a previous desktop assessment identified the line of a possible burgage plot boundary within the site. A total of 4 trenches amounting to 53 linear meters of test trenches were excavated across the site. Topsoil ranged in depth from 0.5 1.2m. Subsoil consisted of a grey/brown gravel. No archaeological objects were collected from the trenches. A single archaeological feature was recorded, the boundary ditch highlighted in the desktop assessment. This is located 0.5m below the existing ground surface and will be preserved in situ below the existing building and the garden plot to the rear.
