The excavation of a service trench at Knowth House, c. 30m from the Knowth passage tomb complex, was monitored. The 74m-long trench extended in a diagonal line from the corner shed, across the yard and the garden to the north of the house. The trench ranged from 0.3-0.8m wide and was a maximum of 0.75m deep.
Three existing service pipes crossed the trench in the backyard and the ground had been previously disturbed in this location. The south-eastern extent of the trench from the corner of the house to the road was excavated along the line of the existing, recently installed, electric cable. No features or finds of archaeological interest were identified.
