Monitoring of topsoil stripping and cable-trench excavations along roads associated with the High Voltage Cable – East-West Interconnector Project (HVC EWIP) was completed during 2012. This included the topsoil stripping of lands associated with a cable connecting the existing substation at Woodlands to the recently constructed Convertor Station, and cable trench excavations along roads to the north of Ashbourne, from which a number of post-medieval pottery sherds and clay pipe stems were recovered.
