Excavation description This site was excavated during the 2012 BnM Mitigation season. Four cuttings were excavated along the line of a plank trackway that was visible at twenty sightings in the drain face and on the field surface across the southern side of Edera Bog Proper for a distance of 330m, identified during the course of the 2007 Peatland Survey carried out by ADS Ltd. It was orientated north-east/south-west and crossed over togher LF-EDR003 (12E0213?) at sighting LF-EDR004r. The togher was composed of roundwood and split roundwood longitudinals underlain by transversely laid roundwood and brushwood elements. The production fields containing the western extent of the site appear to have been milled considerably since the 2007 field survey and re-identification of the western sightings proved difficult.

Excavation showed that the site was a single plank trackway with transverse supports forming the substructure. While none of the wood was in good condition its selection appears to have been fairly haphazard with a lot of the timbers and roundwoods quite irregular along their outer surfaces. It ran north of and parallel to EDR003 (12E0123?) from east to west crossing over EDR003 at sighting EDR004p / EDR003q after which point it ran south of EDR003. It is believed to be close in date to albeit somewhat later than EDR003.
