Excavation description This site was excavated during the 2012 Bord na Móna Mitigation season. Four cuttings were excavated along the line of a plank trackway that was visible at thirty-one sightings in the drain face and on the field surface across the southern side of Edera Bog Proper. It was dated to AD606-667 and was orientated east-north-east/west-south-west and ran south of and parallel to LF-EDR002 (12E0212?). The togher was identified during the 2007 survey as being composed of densely laid roundwood and brushwood longitudinals underlain by transversely laid roundwood and brushwood. A small number of possible pegs were also recorded. Togher LF-EDR004 (12E0214?) ran across and above LF-EDR003 at sighting LF-EDR003q, indicating that it is earlier in date.

This site, while fragmentary in nature in the cuttings excavated, appears to have been constructed mainly of closely spaced longitudinal roundwood, heavy brushwood and small timbers. These were grouped two to six wide creating a walking surface a maximum of 2m in width supported by short lengths of transverse spilt planks and roundwoods.
