Monitoring was carried out in support of a grant of planning permission for drainage works associated with the development of a pitch and putt course at Newtown, Monaleen Road, Castletroy, Co. Limerick. The nearest monument, LI006-034, an enclosure, is situated approximately 400m to the west of the development site. The proposed development will consist of a single land drain measuring approx 0.5m in width by c. 80m in length extending in a south-east by north-west direction traversing the development site. This drain feature will feed into a square soak pit at its north-west terminus, roughly measuring 5m by 5m by c. 2m in depth, which may also serve as a water feature for the pitch and putt course. Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered.
