Cartographic sources indicate that a castle stood in the immediate vicinity of a proposed cattle shed; however test trenches did not reveal evidence of a substantial structure. The features revealed in the test trenches, a possible pit and three probable ditches or gullies, may relate to post-medieval occupation of the site. Late post-medieval material was observed in the fill of curvilinear Ditch 2; however the other features were not dated and could potentially have been associated with a castle.
The cartographic evidence would suggest that the castle stood in the northern half of the site in the area now occupied by a modern concrete and steel cattle shed. It is not known if any structural remains survive, although it is possible that foundations exist beneath the concrete slab for the shed.
