A programme of testing was carried out at Test Area 3 of the NRA Motorway Maintenance Depot Scheme at Leggetsrath West, Co. Kilkenny. The work was undertaken on behalf of the National Roads Authority and took place on 2 August 2012. A total of 475 linear metres of trenches in Area 3 were excavated. Nothing of archaeological significance was identified. It was clear from the testing that the entire site had previously been stripped of topsoil and backfilled with clays.
