Test-excavations were carried out in the cellar beneath 61-2 High Street and inside 76 Kieran Street, Kilkenny in advance of a restaurant/cafe development. Medieval make-up deposits were present in the eastern sector of the proposed development area and discrete deposits possibly of similar date were sealed beneath a stone wall in the undercroft to the west. Formation levels were redesigned and the deposits preserved in situ beneath the new development.
