A programme of testing was carried out at Garrincreen, Kilkenny, prior to the development of a proposed ‘drive-thru’ restaurant. Test trenching took place on 5 September 2012. This was carried out using an 8-tonne tracked excavator, with a flat, toothless bucket, under supervision. A total of five trenches were investigated across the test area which measures c. 100m east-north-east/west-south-west by c. 65m. No features of archaeological potential were identified as a result of the assessment.
