Site 4-5 Cotterellsrath was discovered during monitoring of topsoil stripping for the Bord Gáis Networks Gas to Great Island scheme (Excavations 2012, No. 334, 12E0356). Eight pits and a post-hole were excavated.

Six of the pits formed a U-shaped arc measuring 8m by 5m and could potentially represent structural remains. Two additional pits and a post-hole were located outside the main cluster. The pits were generally sub-circular or oval and varied in size from 0.28m by 0.26m to 0.6m by 0.6m. Burnt bone was recovered from two of the pits.
