An excavation was carried out over the period of one week on a greenfield site in advance of the development of a rugby pitch and associated site works at Caher, Killarney. During the course of this investigation, two fulachta fiadh and associated features were recorded. The first was a small oval mound measuring 6.5m north-south x 3.7m containing one small shallow trough. The second was a larger mound measuring 16m north-south x 18m containing three separate troughs aligned in a row from the centre of the mound to the extent. There were several small pits associated with this fulacht which are believed to be potboilers. None of the troughs from either mound contained any stone or wood lining or any artefacts. Carbon dating results are pending.
