A programme of testing was carried out at the site of a proposed extension to a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant (Bioniche), which is located at Kilroe West, Co. Galway. The assessment was carried out in response to planning conditions attached to the proposed development.
Test trenching took place on 4 October 2012, using a 13-tonne tracked excavation machine equipped with a flat, toothless bucket under supervision. Eight trenches were excavated within the area of proposed development. Nothing of archaeological significance was identified within any of the test trenches.
