Testing was carried out along the roadway at Moyarwood, Co. Galway in advance of groundworks associated with the Galway Group water scheme in July 2012. The scheme had been the subject of a previous Cultural Heritage Assessment carried out by Moore Archaeological and Environmental Services in August 2011. The assessment had recommended testing in the vicinity of the enclosure GA073-147 located 40m to the west of the roadway. A single trench measuring 20m north-east/south-west along the road verge was excavated to expose a sod and topsoil overlying a grey brown silty clay with a depth of 0.4m. Below this the ground got more compact and phased into a grey clay with occasional medium sized stones. No finds or features of archaeological significance were noted.
