Monitoring was carried out as part of an expansion to the existing plant with assistance provided by Mr Peter Kearns. No archaeological features were identified during earlier monitoring on this site by Sinéad Phelan, Margaret Gowen and Co. Ltd, in 2005 (Excavations 2005, No. 485, 05E0018).
The current development was for the construction of a two storey manufacturing building (8,641m2) to the rear of the existing Pfizer Plant (Area 3), a single storey warehouse extension (3,057m2 ), Area 2, and enlarged car parking facilities and miscellaneous site works and temporary works (Areas 2, 3 and 4). Areas 1-3 were brown field sites while Area 4 was the only green field site. The ground reduction work commenced on 6 February 2012 using a 30 tonne mechanical excavator.
No features or deposits of an archaeological nature were identified during the archaeological monitoring of the site.
