An assessment was carried out as a result of works undertaken by Bord Gáis within the grounds of Cadbury Ireland, Coolock. A concrete plinth was constructed in close proximity to mound DU015-074, which is likely to represent a prehistoric burial mound. It was proposed to construct a pumping unit on the plinth. However, after consultation with the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, it was decided to move the unit in order to prevent an adverse visual impact on the mound. The removal of the plinth and excavation of a short section of pipeline trench (c. 5m) was monitored (1.2m wide, 1m deep). The footprint of the plinth and the new trench were examined for the presence of archaeological features. However, both were found to occupy made ground, likely associated with the landscaping around the Cadbury factory, which was constructed in the 1960s. No archaeological features were identified. The relocated plinth and pumping unit was located in the screened car park associated with the Cadbury factory. No excavation was required for the construction of the plinth due to the presence of a tarmacadam footing.
